Bee pollen
Bee pollen first catches the eye with its natural mosaic of colours. The small, dry and brittle pellets may carry floral, herbal, lightly sweet, tart, earthy or gently bitter notes. Every batch tastes a little different because it reflects the plants flowering during the collection period.
How are the colourful pellets made?
Bees gather microscopic pollen grains from flowers and form them into small pellets with a little nectar and their own secretions. Colour is an intriguing sign of diverse forage, but it cannot reliably identify a specific plant species on its own.
A distinctive addition to everyday food
Sprinkle it over yoghurt, porridge or fruit, or blend it into a cool smoothie. Keep tightly closed in a cool, dry and dark place. Protect it from moisture and always use a clean, dry spoon.
Warning: bee pollen may cause an allergic reaction, which can rarely be severe. Do not consume if you are allergic to plant pollen or bee products.
